Engineer II, Packaging
Identifies and investigates opportunities to
improve cost or quality through improved
packaging material specifications or
conformance, and recommends changes. Works with
Sales/Marketing on new design and modifications
of VMS and OTC packaging. Works with packaging
operations, vendors, Purchasing, and QA/QC to
resolve irregularities and improve packaging
materials’ performance. Packaging
Improvement/Optimization. Seek/evaluate
opportunities to improve packaging line
performance. Recommend changes to equipment,
materials, components, set-up procedures, etc.
to optimize and reduce packaging costs. New
Product Development. Evaluate and develop new
packaging systems and modifications to support
customer requirements. Provide new and
innovative designs and concepts as required.
Value Engineering. Identify and investigate
opportunities to increase profit margin and
quality, or reduce environmental impact through
improved material specifications or conformance.
This will be accomplished by conducting studies,
analyzing products, and coordinating internal or
outside technical resources. Quarterly review
and monitor cost savings of related projects.
Integration. Leads plans and processes to
reduce/optimize packaging components,
specifications, and part numbers to provide
enhance company competitiveness and reduce
internal complexity. Problem Investigation.
Evaluate and lead technical investigations of
complaint reports, component defects, and
quality issues. This will include packaging,
component, and vendor issues. Engineering
Resource. Provide throughout evaluation of major
equipment purchases and process design reviews.
Monitor journals, processes, and packaging
designs in order to provide technical
information to all relevant departments in the
company.
B.S. in Packaging Science, Material Science, or
related engineering degree with equivalent
packaging experience. 5-10 years packaging
experience in consumer products industries.
Ability to logically design and execute analysis
resolve complex business issues. Ability to
identify, rigorously analyze, and solve
operating/packaging issues. Ability to convert
both qualitative and quantitative information
into action plans, and see solution to
resolution/completion. Excellent oral and
written communication skills. Excellent Value
Engineering skills. Proficiency in MS Office, MS
Project, AutoCAD, TOPS and CAPE. Bilingual
English/Spanish is highly desirable.
Professional packaging certification or
designation (i.e. IoPP certification).
